Don't overshare on social media. People have a tendency to post vacation pictures while far from home - but, if such information is seen by the wrong sets of eyes that it may result in attempts to rob your home. Also, do not respond to social-media invitations to events which involve all of the residents of your house - doing so can allow the general public know ahead of time that nobody will be home at a certain time. There are a lot of other examples of what not to share on societal websites - the bottom line is think twice before submitting, and, whenever possible, use technology to deal with any mistakes in this regard.
